PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE

 

This year's Professional Development Conference was held in Oakville, Ontario at the Region of Halton Headquarters on October 26. Our theme this year was New Steps Towards Sustainable Development. Delegates saw how recent changes to the Planning Act have created substantial changes in how we plan communities. Our main sessions included Leo Longo, Aird & Berlis and Darryl Lyons, Ontario MMAH speaking to the legislative changes. We also had a panel discussion this year featuring John Ariens, Jeff Paikin and Paul Mallard with respect to the challenges facing infilling development. In addition, Bruce Kruschelnicki was our keynote luncheon speaker We also had informative workshops including Building a Sustainable House, GIS, Working Effectively with Difficult Clients and Work & Wellness. Finally, there was an afternoon tour of Mattamy’s ECO Village as well as the Halton Waste Management Facility.
